Roger M. Hayne
Roger is a principal and consulting actuary in the Los Angeles office of Milliman. He joined the firm in 1977.
Experience
Roger's experience spans a broad range of property and casualty applications, including reserving, financial valuation, dynamic financial analysis, ratemaking, and underwriting.
Much of Roger's work has been with complex and uncertain coverages. Examples include excess of loss (including unlimited no-fault automobile benefits) and asbestos and environmental liabilities (including underground storage tank exposures). Roger's strong statistical background has brought him several expert witness assignments relating to the design and analysis of samples of property and casualty claims.
Roger has also done extensive work in more customary property and casualty coverages, such as automobile liability, professional liability, workers' compensation, earthquake, and other personal and commercial lines.
Roger is a recognized expert in extended service contract (warranty) business, with numerous consulting and expert witness assignments in this area. His clients include insurers, self-insureds (both private and public entities), state-sponsored insurer associations, and ratemaking organizations.
He is the winner of the 1995 Dorweiler Prize, awarded for best paper of the year, for Extended Service Contracts, published in the Proceedings of the Casualty Actuarial Society.
