Alice Chuang
Alice Chuang is an associate actuary with the Life Insurance Consulting Practice of Milliman. She joined the firm in 2022.
Experience
Since joining Milliman, Alice has worked on a variety of projects, including financial reporting, pricing, and valuation and control development. She has extensive experience in optimizing and streamlining complex financial models.
Alice has been involved in several financial reporting optimization initiatives across regulatory regimes such as IFRS 17 and the BMA framework. Notably, she transformed a cumbersome Excel-based reporting backend into a streamlined Python-driven workflow, substantially reducing manual effort and processing time. Additionally, she established robust audit logs within the process for data movement and key calculations, significantly enhancing transparency and control.
In addition to valuation reporting, Alice has been involved in multiple projects focused on conducting comprehensive experience studies to support strategic business needs. Her experience study contributions are broad, including developing comprehensive Experience Study Dashboards to visualize key metrics like mortality, morbidity, lapse, and utilization, and providing essential due diligence and data analysis for complex M&A transactions and reinsurance bidding decisions. She drives these efforts by transforming complex Excel spreadsheets and raw data from an SQL database into dynamic Power BI dashboards, while leveraging her technical expertise to perform and accelerate key financial and actuarial calculations. Her proficiency in version control techniques ensured seamless integration during iterative development and revisions.
Prior to Milliman, Alice held positions focused on valuation and business analysis for group health plans, and derivatives settlement and reporting for a life insurer. These experiences further broadened her skillset in workflow automation, statistical learning, and proficiency with a wide range of analytic and data processing languages (R, Python, SQL, and SAS). Alice brings a diverse background in the life and health insurance sectors.
