Alex Bryant is a principal and consulting actuary for Milliman’s Singapore office. He joined the firm in 2013, having previously worked for a UK life insurer for over seven years.
As a member of the Singapore team, Alex is involved in a wide range of projects, but his background has leant him to having a particular focus on Prophet modelling and participating business issues, on which he has spoken at several industry events and conferences.
Experience
Alex has experience of working on a broad range of actuarial areas from his time in the UK and in Asia. This includes:
- Product development and pricing;
- Statutory valuation and capital;
- Embedded value reporting;
- Prophet modelling, including ALS;
- Asset liability management;
- Market consistent valuation;
- Asset modelling (including derivatives);
- M&A valuation and due diligence work; and
- Participating fund management issues
Alex’s recent experience with Milliman has included:
- Supporting Appointed Actuary work for Singapore life companies
- Working on numerous buy- and sell-sides for various M&A transactions and bancassurance deals in Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia
- Reviewing and optimising regulatory capital positions for par funds following the introduction of RBC2 in Singapore
- Assessing par-fund TVOG materiality for IFRS 17 purposes in Malaysia
- Dealing with par fund bonus management issues in Vietnam
- Handling expense allocations with respect to par funds in Singapore
- Developing par fund governance policies
- Developing Prophet ALS models for par and universal life business in Singapore
