Juliet Spector is a principal and consulting actuary with the Chicago office of Milliman. She joined the firm in 2002.
Experience
Juliet offers expertise and guidance to both providers and insurers in understanding and estimating the complex financial risks associated with healthcare costs.
Juliet serves as an Advisor for Milliman’s LTC Advanced Risk Analytics (LARA) product (www.milliman.com/LARA). LARA provides key insight into LTC morbidity risks using predictive models, social determinants of health data, and prescription drug and medical records.
Juliet serves as an advisor for Nodal Medical Benchmarking for Workers Compensation (Predictive Analytics for Insurance | Milliman Nodal). Nodal Medical Benchmarking combats rising workers compensation insurance costs with data-driven benchmarks and targeted early intervention.
Juliet lends actuarial expertise to enable providers to understand a patient-centered quality care delivery system. She provides strategic and actuarial advice in legal matters and mergers and acquisitions. She develops customized actuarial cost models to allow her provider clients to maximize revenue when implementing changes to reimbursement strategies or capitation rates.
She has extensive experience with long-term care insurance, including expert witness work, cash flow testing, mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting and reserve development, administrative conversion, first principles modeling, stochastic modeling, state insurance department rate filings, experience analysis, product development, pricing, and international work.
Juliet has written numerous articles for the Society of Actuaries, Milliman, and published literature for her clients. She was an author of two SOA research papers on provider risk and a series of papers for the Children’s Hospital Association regarding their CMMI innovation award. She is also a frequent speaker at industry meetings.
