Rik van Beers works as a consulting actuary in the Brussels office of Milliman. His main focus is on risk management, capital modelling and valuation model implementation for life insurers, predominantly within the Belgian and Luxembourg markets.
Experience
Prior to joining the Brussels office, Rik worked in Ireland for Milliman's Dublin office and in the Netherlands for the Amsterdam office. He also worked for Aviva Ireland, where his main role was to advise on synergies arising from the integration with Friends First.
Throughout his career, Rik has worked on a range of projects, including:
- Balance sheet management: pricing, hedging, reinsurance and capital optimisation
- Regulatory support: actuarial lead for multiple regulatory on-sights
- ORSA: strategic support (risk appetite, capital plan, scenarios & management actions), technical support (balance sheet & capital projections), and regulatory support
- Recovery planning: strategic support (risk analyses, indicators & management actions), and technical support (recovery scenarios & options)
- Internal models: development, implementation and review of SF appropriateness, market risk modules, aggregation modules, and model governance
- Prophet: implementation of projection-and valuation models for various Dutch pension-and life insurance portfolios and their reinsurance contracts
- Valuation processes: implementation, optimisation, documentation, and review of complete reporting processes
