Market insight from year-end 2021 SFCRs: Analysis of life insurers based in the Netherlands

30 December 2022

This briefing note looks at the year-end 2021 Solvency and Financial Condition Reports (SFCRs) of a sample of life insurers based in the Netherlands. At year-end 2021, European insurers published the sixth set of annual SFCRs. In this briefing note, we analyse the SFCRs of seven life entities of Dutch insurers, selected based on their total assets in 2021. We rely on key information in the Quantitative Reporting Templates (QRTs) in the SFCRs. After an introduction, we discuss:

  • Analyses of premiums, costs, balance sheet, and investments
  • The solvency capital requirement
  • Volatility adjustment impact on insurers
  • An analysis of solvency coverage
