For the first time since the inception of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in 2014, the federal government is changing the age curve for ages 0 to 20, effective January 1, 2018. Individuals under the age of 21 will experience significant premium changes because of the age curve change. Health carriers should develop a communication plan explaining to their members what is causing premium increases.
