As there is growing recognition that health outcomes and healthcare costs are impacted by nonmedical factors, particularly in lower-income populations, an increasing number of states are finding ways to address these factors through their state Medicaid programs. Episcopal Health Foundation recently commissioned Milliman to complete a landscape study of the various approaches state Medicaid programs are using to address nonmedical drivers of health. Our report covers the following:
- Approaches in terms of program design considerations
- Body of evidence
- State-specific profiles
- Analysis of target populations and cost drivers
This report was commissioned by the Episcopal Health Foundation.
