In a recent article in a special issue of Inside Medical Liability, published by the Medical Professional Liability (MPL) Association, we summarize 2022 financial results for 52 of the largest specialty writers, using statutory data obtained from S&P Global Market Intelligence. Closed courtrooms, economic stimulus, and increasing interest rates all have affected the MPL market. Following 2021, a year that may have surprised some with respect to higher direct written premium in MPL, rates increased at a slower rate in 2022. We discuss the following key metrics:
